Rebels Ready For CSU Fall Invitational
10/4/2015 | Women's Golf
OXFORD, Miss.-- There was a change of plans for the Ole Miss women's golf team this week. The Rebels were originally headed to Charleston, South Carolina, but Hurricane Joaquin had other plans. A state of emergency was declared in South Carolina due to the inclement weather, forcing a venue change for the CSU Fall Invitational. The two-day tournament will now be played at Château Élan Golf Club in Braselton, Ga.
The 13-team field will play 36 holes Monday, and the final 18 on Tuesday. Fans can follow the leaderboard via GolfStat.

Rebel to Watch For
Senior Alison Hovatter (Meridianville, Ala.) looks to continue her fall momentum this week. The Alabama native has scored consistently scored better each tournament and she attributes that success to her new coaches.
Familiar with Memphis and Samford
The Rebels have played alongside Memphis at both tournaments thus far this fall season and have gained ground on the Tigers each time out. Former Rebel Rachel Ingram is the head coach at Samford, and Ole Miss knows her squad well after winning the Samford Intercollegiate last season.
Head Coach Kory Henkes Quoted
On senior Alison Hovatter...
"The girls have been playing really well. I've seen a huge improvement in Ali's game the last few weeks. Her wedge game is so much better, and I think she can now contend in tournaments and give herself a chance."
On senior Abby Newton...
"Abby has been playing great as well. She's probably the best putter I've ever seen on the women's side. Her ball striking has gotten a lot better over the last week, which she's been working really hard on. She'll be one to watch for sure."
On the lineup...
"Along with the two I mentioned we have Madisen (Bentley), Martina (Flori) and Katie Voll in the mix as well. They're all working hard and I think it'll be a good week for us."
On expectations...
"We don't get outcome oriented, you can't do that in golf. You have to focus on what you can control on each individual shot. We're really trying to get the girls to do that more and keep their attitude focused on the next shot and let the results take care of themselves. I think it's that, and playing with confidence more, that's a big thing in golf so we're trying to push that as we go forward."
