OXFORD, Miss. - The No. 17 Ole Miss rifle team kicked off the spring season Saturday against No. 6 Kentucky at the Patricia C. Lamar National Guard Readiness Center.
Sophomore Alison Weisz led Ole Miss in smallbore with a career-high 579 as the Rebels shot 2258. In air rifle, freshman Jessica Haig equaled her personal best with a 588 to lead the team to a 2322 total. The Rebels finished with an aggregate score of 4580.
"Today was an ok start to this part of the season," head coach Valerie Boothe said. "We shot our average today and most know where they can come up with more points for the team score. Ali had a personal best in smallbore and Jessica tied her personal best in air. We just have to keep pushing and be more prepared for tomorrow."
Kentucky finished with a total aggregate of 4688. Jonathan Pinkel and Connor Davis led the Wildcats in smallbore with a 585, while Heather Kirby posted a 594 in air rifle.
The Rebels are back in action Sunday, hosting No. 16 NC State at 9 a.m.
