Ole Miss vs. Presbyterian
Vaught-Hemingway Stadium - Oxford, Miss.
Nov. 8, 2014
Opening statement…
"I told our kids this week that when you love something you open yourself up to some hurts and disappointments. You also, because of your love for something, get to experience great joy and hope. It's a happy locker room in there. Some of the joyous things that happened today are seeing kids like John Ratliff get a catch, who has been years as a walk-on in this program. Lakedrick King broke up a pass on third down. It was a lot of fun to see our teammates be successful. It was quite rewarding. I'm happy to be sitting where we are with two conference games left. We were able to sit a few guys today and some got very few reps. Hopefully we will be as healthy as we've been in a long time in a couple of weeks when we travel to Fayetteville. It was a good day. Our kids were focused."
On new players standing out…
"The two that jumped out to everyone were Jordan Wilkins and Mark Dodson. Their physical, downhill run that they did was very impressive today. How does that equate to some of the defenses we'll play in weeks to come? I'm not sure. I'm impressed with what we saw, for sure."
#14, Bo Wallace, QB
On the game…
"I felt like we played really well. We got some of our young guys reps that will help to further their development. I think we got everything accomplished what we want to get accomplished"
On the bye week…
"I think the team will rest up. After a tough stretch of SEC games we have a lot guys beat up. We just have to get better physically and work on some things for Arkansas over the next couple of weeks."
#7, Mark Dodson, RB
On his 100-yard game…
"It was a real good experience. I knew coming into this game that I would have a chance. We didn't take them lightly, the line blocked for me and I just played to my potential."
On the rush offense…
"Our line was very physical upfront. We really worked hard on our running this week and during the game holes just seemed to open up for us.
#90, Fadol Brown, DL
On setting the tone early…
"Coach (Chris) Kiffin demanded that we come out strong and not flat. Teams like that can beat you if you come out flat."
On moving past Auburn…
"You just have to try to move forward. We can use that as motivation and continue to get better."
On his performance…
"Going against SEC competition week-in and week-out, it prepares you for games like this. Playing against SEC speed and physicality makes it easier when you play against smaller schools."
On preparing to play Ole Miss …
"We knew it was going to be a tough battle obviously, when you are playing a team like Ole Miss. They have a lot of speed. They are big, tough and physical football team. It was all what I expected it to be. Ole Miss has a great game day atmosphere and our kids were excited about coming over here and playing. Unfortunately, we did not play as well as I would have hoped. Some of it had to do with us, but a lot of it had to do with them. Credit goes to go Coach (Hugh) Freeze and his staff. They have a great team."
On what his team did well today …
"(Ed) Britt showed up today. We had few runs in there today with Blake Roberts, and Tobi Antigha made a few catches. We just were not consistent enough to get a drive against these guys. They are just awful good. What a great opportunity for our program and school to be on the SEC Network. We appreciate Ole Miss giving us the opportunity to come in here and play."
