Ole Miss Head Coach Hugh Freeze

Opening statement…
"When you see your young men put so much into preparing for opportunities like we had tonight, you see the hurt that they go through. Whoever lost that game tonight was going to feel that way. It was a great college football game against two really good teams. It doesn't take away any of the steam that's in that locker room right now when you felt like you played well enough to win it. It's disappointing. The message to our team was very simple. Our character trait this week was adversity. We're staring it in the face a bit and that's life. Sometimes that's the way it goes. We have to be brothers right now as we stand together and get through a challenging time."

On Laquon Treadwell…
"He definitely has a fracture. It was obvious, even to me. I don't know anything other than that. I can't tell you all of the details of it."

On if the final play was conclusive enough to overturn the touchdown…
"I have no idea. That wasn't my complaint. I just think when you get tackled from behind and pulled down by the collar in open field. I'll have to watch it on film. I didn't see the replay to know anything as far as the ball being loose or not."

Ole Miss Student-Athletes

#14, Serderius Bryant, LB
On the Auburn offense…
"They have great backs and their QB is very elusive. You have to take your hats off to that offense. We had a pretty good game plan coming into it, but they found little creases in it to gash us. They were going so fast. Before you know it, you've already run four plays in just a few seconds. Against the read option, we had the game plan of leaving the defensive ends to play the QB and us fit the gaps."

On moving forward…
"I'm a senior, so I'm going to do everything in my power to get my team ready for the next game. We just have to keep going. I went from 2-10 to where we are now. I need them to keep going with me and make my senior year a great year."

#17, Evan Engram, TE
On the middle being successful…
"Since we have such beasts outside in Laquon (Treadwell), Vince (Sanders), Cody (Core) and Quincy (Adeboyejo), the middle sometimes opens up. The plays required my number being called, and I made plays tonight."

On altering routes on blitzes …
"Anytime a defense shows there's a blitz coming, I run my route a lot quicker and get my head around so Bo (Wallace) can get rid of it faster to prevent a sack and lost yards."

On Auburn blitzing often …
"They saw how much pressure LSU got on us last week, and they wanted to do the same. We kind of expected that, and I think we handled it a lot better this week. We just didn't come out with the win."

On injuries…
"It's part of the game, and it stinks to see how much work we put in. Especially guys like Laquon (Treadwell) and Denzel (Nkemdiche), but we love each other and will fight for each other the rest of the season. In one play it could be gone. Last year I experienced that and now guys will have to step up."

Auburn Head Coach Gus Malzahn

On today's game…
"Obviously that is a really big win for us. Ole Miss is one of the top teams in the country. To get a win here is a great effort by our players. Our defense gave up some yards, but they came up with two turnovers and had three stops, I believe, at the end. On offense we made some plays in the passing games. At times we were able to run the ball consistently against one of the better defenses in the country. The negative would be the penalties. This is fairly uncharacteristic of our team. We have to do better in the future. Our guys overcame it. They found a way to win a close game at the end.

On the Treadwell fumble…
"Yeah, it was a big play. Our guys find ways to win when it is close. Our guys truly believe they are going to win the game if it is close. They made plays defensively and offensively to win the game."

On the game feeling like a playoff…
"It felt like a big game. We were playing one of the better teams in the country. I am going to tell you right now, Ole Miss is still one of the better teams. People are talking about an elimination game, but bottom line is No. 3 was playing No. 4. Ole Miss is still a great team and they have a great coach."

Auburn Student-Athletes

#17, Kris Frost, LB
On the last play of the game…
"They were killing us with slants the entire game. (Laquon) Treadwell is a very fast and physical guy so when my teammates held him up, I felt the ball was loose and I made a play."

On playing in games similar to this one…
"Last season against Texas A&M definitely reminded me of this game. The physicality of it and everything coming down to the last possession really brought back memories of that game."

On playing on the road…
"I enjoy playing on the road. This was such a great atmosphere and it definitely felt like a playoff game."

#8, Cassanova McKinzy, LB
On Ole Miss final red zone possession…
"Kris (Frost) and myself were hustling to the ball. I knew when the play ended it wasn't a touchdown. It was just a good play for our team, and we came through in the end."

On Laquon Treadwell…
"They were beating us with the slant and stop routes the entire night, but we came through in the end and our defense made a big play."
