Ruth Chris Tar Heel Classic is Homecoming for Taelor Rubin
Ole Miss senior Taelor Rubin (Raleigh, N.C.) will make one last trip to her home state as a member of the Ole Miss women's golf team. Rubin grew up in nearby Raleigh, N.C. and played her prep golf at Cary Academy. This will be the third consecutive appearance in the Tar Heel Invitational field for the Rebels.
Looking To Recapture 2012 Magic
The Rebels fair well in North Carolina and took runner-up honors in 2012. The second-place finish in 2012 marks the highest finish for the Rebels to date. Last season, Ole Miss posted two top-10 finishes including a season-best fourth place finish at the Clover Cup in Arizona. Ole Miss' third place finish was its highest finish since taking second place at the North Carolina Tar Heel Invitational in 2012-13. Ole Miss is looking for its first team tournament title since claiming the Johnie Imes Invitational in 2008.
Welcome to the Family Coach Wilkinson!
The newest member of the Ole Miss women's golf family is assistant coach Hayley Wilkinson. Wilkinson, a native of Australia, enters her first season as assistant coach in 2014-15. Wilkinson is no stranger to collegiate golf as she played collegiately at Long Beach State, leading the 49ers to their first NCAA Tournament appearance.
Notes from the Cougar Classic
This weekends UNC Tar Heel Invitational comes after nearly two weeks of rest for the Ole Miss squad. The Rebel's last played at the Cougar Classic (Sept. 14-16).
-Madisen Bentley carded a final round 4-over par 76 for her best round as a Rebel. Bentley comes to Ole Miss from Portland State where she played her freshman season.
-Ole Miss' two-round score of 601 in the Cougar Classic first and second rounds are the third lowest two-round score in program history.
-Stani Schiavone led the Rebels for three rounds at the Cougar Classic. In two fall tournaments and six rounds, Schiavone hasn't carded a round over 74, equaling her best career start.

Newton Claims FedEx Memphis Medalist Honors
Junior Abby Newton picked up her first career tournament title by claiming medalist honors at the FedEx Memphis Intercollegiate. Newton set several career marks in the process. Her 68 in the second round was an 18-hole career low and her 210 for the tournament was a new 54-hole career low. Newton becomes the third Ole Miss golfer to claim medalist honors under head coach Michele Drinkard and the first since 2010 when Natalie Gleadall won the Cougar Classic.
Welcome to the Squad
This season the Rebels welcome two new faces in freshman Sofia Idoyaga and Portland State transfer, Madisen Bentley. Idoyaga comes to Oxford all the way from Buenos Aires, Argentina and joins sophomore Maria Toennessen as internationals on the Ole Miss squad. Bentley, a sophomore, joins the Ole Miss squad from Washington state where she spent her freshman season playing for the Vikings. Bentley set the freshman scoring record for Portland State and only shot over a 77 three times in 2013-14.
Tough Fall Slate on Tap
The Rebels will play five fall tournaments this year. After opening at the Memphis FedEx Intercollegiate, Ole Miss travels to the Cougar Classic (Sept. 14-16) hosted by the College of Charleston before taking some time off. Ole Miss will get back on the course at the UNC Tar Heel Invitational (Oct. 10-12) before traveling to the Mercedes Benz Classic (Oct. 17-19), which is hosted by Tennessee. Ole Miss will close the fall slate at the Jim West Challenge (Nov. 1-3) hosted by Texas State.
Drinkard Opens Eighth Season at Ole Miss
Ole Miss head coach Michele Drinkard opens her eighth season at the helm of the Ole Miss program this week. Drinkard has led the Rebels to six NCAA regional appearances in her eight years at the helm.
