LINCOLN, Neb. - The No. 14 ranked Ole Miss Rifle team dropped their match to No. 9 Nebraska 4653-4576 here Sunday at the NU Rifle Range.
The Rebels posted a 2244 in smallbore, but the Huskers (2307) outscored the Rebels by 63 points, led by Denise Martin and Rachel Martin, who fired 580 and 579, respectively. Sophomore Alison Weisz posted a 569 to lead the Rebels.
Freshman Jessica Haig equaled her best score shot at the Ole Miss Invitational, with a 588 in air rifle to lead the team, who finished with a 2332 total.
Jaycee Carter snatched a 590 in air rifle to lead the Huskers as they ended with a final air rifle score of 2346.
The Rebels will have some time to work on improving both disciplines, as they don't compete again until Nov. 14 at Army.
"We are still trying to find our footing with smallbore," head coach Valerie Boothe said. "It's great to see the freshman step up to the challenge, especially in air rifle. We have a good break before heading to New York, so we will take every advantage to improve our smallbore."
