ANNAPOLIS, Md. - In a tightly contested match that came down to the wire, the No. 10 ranked Ole Miss rifle team, powered by solid performances in smallbore, defeated 15th-ranked Navy 4622-4617 here Sunday at the Bancroft Hall Rifle Range.

The Rebels topped Navy, 2293-2286, in smallbore, while the Mids bested Ole Miss by a narrow two-shot margin in air rifle, 2331-2329. With the win, Ole Miss improved to 3-4 on the season as they gear up for a make-up match against Jacksonville State Feb. 9 in Jacksonville, Ala.

Juniors Alivia Yeager and Abbey Stanec posted a 577 in smallbore to finish tied for second among all shooters and lead the Rebels.

Rena Goodwin posted a team-high 584 in air rifle, second among all competitors. It was four off her career-high (588) she set last week at Army. Yeager and senior Kim Coffey each fired a 582, while Stanec rounded out the Rebels with a 581.

"We got the win today in part by the smallbore performances of Alivia and Abbey," head coach Valerie Boothe said. "Both teams really fought hard today, and I am glad it went our way. Now we will get ready for our match in Jacksonville."

The Jacksonville State match will be the final regular season match before the Rebels head to Lexington, Ky., for the NCAA Qualifier, Feb. 16th.
