Ole Miss Falls To Mississippi State

OXFORD, Miss. - The Ole Miss women's basketball team saw its two-game winning streak snapped Thursday night, falling to Mississippi State, 51-46.
With the loss, fell to Ole Miss 12-7 (2-4 SEC) while Mississippi State improved to 12-6 (2-3 SEC).
Nikki Byrd recorded her 12th double-double of the year with 12 points and 14 rebounds while Valencia McFarland added a team-high 14 points.
Mississippi State took advantage of an early 14-2 run to push ahead 18-8 with 8:48 remaining in the first half.
Ole Miss used a 12-4 run of their own to take a 24-23 lead at the half for the team's first lead since a shot by McFarland with 15:09 left in the first half.
Ole Miss shot 31.0 percent (9-29) from the floor in the first half while Mississippi State shot 25.7 percent (9-35). McFarland and Byrd each had six points at the half.
In the second half, Mississippi State went up by eight, 36-28, with 12:00 remaining. Ole Miss closed the gap to two, 36-34, after two consecutive threes from McFarland with 9:34 to play.
The Rebels closed the gap to one, 43-23, on a put back from Kenyotta Jenkins but Mississippi State held on down the stretch.
Ole Miss will host No. 15 Georgia on Sunday at 2 p.m. The game will be televised live on CSS and on ESPN3.
