10/27/2026 | Women's Basketball

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Ole Miss women's basketball senior Talaysia Cooper adds another preseason accolade to her resume, as she was named one of 20 watch-list candidates for the 2027 Ann Meyers Drysdale Award, the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame and the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) announced on Tuesday.

This marks Cooper's third time on this prestigious preseason list, earning top 10 finalist honors in 2024-25. Additionally, it's the seventh consecutive year at least one Rebel has been named to a preseason Naismith award watch list.

The Ann Meyers Drysdale Award, in its 10th year, honors the top shooting guard in NCAA Division I women's college basketball. It is named after the Class of 1993 Hall of Famer, the first player, regardless of gender, to be chosen for an All-America Team in four consecutive college seasons.

Recognized as the No. 7 best transfer available this offseason, Cooper led Tennessee in scoring (16.0 ppg), assists (3.6 apg), steals (2.7 spg) and 3-pointers (61 total) this past season. She has garnered several individual accolades, including All-SEC second team nods in two consecutive seasons, along with a spot on the 2025 SEC All-Defensive Team. Cooper was recently recognized on the preseason All-SEC first team voted on by the conference coaches, and the All-SEC second team in the media preseason poll.

Fans are encouraged to participate in Fan Voting in each of the three rounds starting on Friday, October 30. Vote once a day for Cooper here.

In February, the watch list of 20 players for the 2027 Ann Meyers Drysdale Award will be narrowed to 10, then to five in March. In late March, the five finalists will be presented to Meyers Drysdale and the Hall of Fame's selection committees, where winners will be selected. The selection committees for the Ann Meyers Drysdale Award is composed of top women's college basketball personnel, including media members, head coaches, sports information directors, and Hall of Famers.
