Rebels Down Jacksonville State, Win Second-Straight Match

Murray, Ky. - The Ole Miss rifle team won their second consecutive match on Saturday, knocking off Jacksonville State 4653-4634 at the Pat Spurgin Rifle Range in Murray, Ky. The Rebels continued their successful fall campaign, finishing just one point shy of the school record in total team aggregate score.
Ole Miss matched their aggregate score school record in the air, besting the Gamecocks 2351-2327 in the neutral site match hosted by Murray State. Matching scores of 589 by senior Keely Stankey, sophomore Melissa Quartarone and sophomore Alivia Yeager gave the Rebels the top three individual finishes in the air.
Junior Kim Coffey fired a 584 for sixth place and sophomore Abbey Stanec shot a 580 to cement the Rebel victory.
In the smallbore, the Rebels dropped a close match, falling 2307-2302. Quartarone finished third, firing a 577 to lead the Rebels. Stankey shot 576, Coffey fired 575 and Stanec tallied 574 for fifth, sixth and seventh, respectively.
Sophomore MaryAnn Banks completed the scoring for the Rebels, shooting 566 for tenth.
"I am very proud of the team," said Ole Miss head coach Valerie Boothe. "It's only a matter of time before we have a new school record. Now we have to prepare for West Virginia."
The Rebels resume competition next Saturday, Nov. 12, when they take on GARC conference rival and 2010 NCAA National Champions West Virginia in Morgantown, W. Va.
