Women's Golf Adds Pennsylvania Native Katerina Luttner

OXFORD, Miss. - Ole Miss head women's golf coach Michele Drinkard announced the signing of Katerina Luttner, of Pittsburgh, Pa., to a national letter of intent on Tuesday. Luttner will join the Rebels beginning in the fall of 2012.
Luttner is a multi-talented athlete, who was named Fox Chapel's Female Athlete of the Year in 2011. She is known for her long drives on the golf course, and her long throws in discus and shot put. A four-year letter winner on the golf team, she was WPIAL Champion in 2010, WPIAL Runner-up in 2011, and finished fourth at the PIAA State Championship in 2011. In Track and Field, Katerina is a three-year letter winner and was named Most Valuable Female Athlete for three consecutive years. She holds the school's record for shot put, and received several scholarship offers for Track and Field.
"Katerina is a gem of a find and is going to be a heck of a player for us at Ole Miss," Drinkard said. "She is bubbling with personality and built into a 6' frame, distance is not an issue. We look for players that are ready to explode onto the scene, and that definitely describes Kat. We can't wait to see her tee it up for us at Ole Miss!"
In addition to participating in sports, Katerina enjoys photography (for which she won the Scholastic Arts Silver Key Award), computer graphics, metal and glass design, theater, music, and attending football games. She is also active in community service, having volunteered over 200 hours to the Make-A-Wish Foundation and Animal Friends.
The daughter of Earl J. Luttner and Dr. Rosanne Y. Kowalsky, her sister Nadia is a freshman at the University of Kansas where she is a starter on the Jayhawks' golf team.
Luttner also considered Wake Forest, Kent State, Tulsa, Penn State, Cincinnati, Indiana, and joining her sister at Kansas. She is coached by Dan Saylor of Orlando who has eight years of combined experience with the David Leadbetter Golf Academy at IMG and the Gary Gilchrist Golf Academy.
Luttner joins Katy, Texas native Abby Newton in this year's signing class.
