Quartarone, Stankey Help Lead Rebels Past UTEP

EL PASO, Texas - Junior Keely Stankey and freshman Melissa Quartarone both fired a total of 578 in the smallbore to lead the Ole Miss rifle team to a 4635-4627 road win over UTEP on Saturday.
Stankey and Quartarone paced the Rebels in the smallbore and were followed closely by Kim Coffey's total of 570. Freshman Abbey Stanec fired a 564 and senior Meredith Holman closed out the Ole Miss smallbore line with a mark of 562.
"It was a great road win," said Ole Miss head coach Valerie Boothe. "UTEP was a tough opponent, but we pulled together as a team and got the win. Melissa set the pace with her 578 in smallbore which Keely later matched. Meredith and Kim came through with good air rifle scores to push the team score up. Our goal was to come away with a win and we accomplished that. Now, we just have two days to prepare for Memphis on Wednesday."
Holman paced the Rebels with a season-high mark of 590 in the air and Coffey finished close behind with a score of 587. Stanec and Stankey both posted a mark of 584, while Quartarone fired a 579.
Next up, Ole Miss will host the Memphis Tigers on Wednesday at the Patricia C. Lamar National Guard Readiness Center in Oxford.
