BATON ROUGE, La. - An Ole Miss scoring drought midway through the second half allowed LSU to pull away as the Ole Miss women's basketball team fell 78-43 at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center Thursday night.


With the loss, Ole Miss fell to 8-9 overall (1-4 SEC) while LSU improved to13-7 overall (3-3 SEC).


The Tigers used a 19-2 run to go ahead by 23, 56-35, with 11:21 to play. The Tigers held the Rebels scoreless for over five minutes before a layup from Pa'Sonna Hope cut the lead to 56-35 with 10:56 to play.


After an early five-point lead by LSU, a three by Shae Nelson tied the game at 12-12 with 11:29 to play. The Tigers extended their lead back to five, 27-22, with 3:32 to play as LSU's Jeanne Kenney hit her fourth three of the game.
Ole Miss recorded just one field goal over the last four minutes of the first half as the Tigers led at the half, 29-22.


Nelson led Ole Miss at the half with eight points, while three players for the Rebels had four apiece. Ole Miss shot 34.5 percent (10-of-29) from the floor while LSU shot 33.3 percent (10-of-30). The Rebels did not attempt at free throw in the first half while the Tigers were 4-for-4 from the line.




Kayla Melson led Ole Miss with 14 points while Nelson added 11 points and four boards.

Ole Miss will play at No. 23/24 Arkansas on Sunday at 2 p.m.
