Jillian Brodd Leads Women's Golf At Cougar Classic

CHARLESTON, S.C. - Senior Jillian Brodd shot an even par 72 to lead the Ole Miss women's golf team on day one at the Cougar Classic here at Yeamans Hall.
Brodd hit 13 greens and carded three birdies including on No. 17, to get back to even after a bogey on 16. The Knoxville, Tenn., native is tied for ninth heading into the second round.
"Jill led us today and also turned in our best round. As a team, we left too many shots out there that could have been saved with a chip or putt, so we will look to get that done tomorrow," head coach Michele Drinkard said.
Juniors Natalie Gleadall and Haley Millsap both posted a 75 as did redshirt freshman Kathryn Fowler, who is competing as an individual in her first tournament as a Rebel. Ashley Lance recorded a 78 to round out the Rebels' total of 300.
Ole Miss sits in a tie for 10th, seven shots out of the top five. North Carolina fired a 285 and leads Minnesota (289) by four. South Carolina is in third at 291, followed by Florida (292) and Oklahoma (293).
