Women's Golf Concludes Play At SEC/PAC-10 Challenge

STANFORD, Calif. - Rain greeted players on the final day of the SEC/PAC-10 Challenge at the Stanford Golf Course causing two weather delays and sending scores higher. The 24th-ranked Rebels finished with a 313 for a three-day total of 912 and a tie for 15th to close out the fall schedule.
Junior Haley Millsap posted a 77-71-75-223 to finish tied for 27th and lead Ole Miss.
"We are proud of Haley for battling in the tough conditions today. When the weather gets tough Haley accepts the challenge and competes. Now the rest of the team needs to step up and learn how to compete in the toughest conditions too," head coach Michele Drinkard said.
Junior Ashley Lance finished with a 72-75-81-228, senior Jillian Brodd shot 77-77-80-234, redshirt freshman Kathryn Fowler carded a 81-76-77-234 and 15th-ranked Natalie Gleadall turned in a 74-78-85-237.
UCLA posted an 856 to take the title, 11 better than second-place and third-ranked Alabama. Southern California took third at 875 followed by Arizona (877) and Auburn (879) to round out the top five. The SEC/PAC-10 Challenge featured 12 teams in the top 25.
Ole Miss concluded the fall with three top-five finishes including second at the Cougar Classic. Gleadall won the Cougar Classic and finished runner-up at the Mercedes Benz.
"Overall we had a good fall and the team has stepped up to the next level," Drinkard said. "Now it's time to take the next step. We have some work to get done before the spring, and I know they are ready for the challenge."
The Rebels will continue the 2010-11 season Feb. 13-15 at the UCF Challenge in Orlando, Fla.
