Hi there,
This week we are headed to Big Orange country to play in the Mercedes Benz Collegiate Championship. As a Tennessee girl, I am so excited to be headed to my home state to play; however, not as excited as Jillian Brodd. We are traveling to her hometown and staying at her house this week. It is a unique experience to get to stay in a home instead of a hotel, and one that I know every one of us really enjoys.
We are in the sprinter van now headed down Highway 6 and some of the girls are watching a movie, while others are reclined back surfing the Internet. We love traveling in the sprinter; it makes the trips go by so much faster and it is a lot easier to stay on top of our schoolwork. We will get into Knoxville later tonight, and we shouldn't have any u-turns this trip, since Jillian knows this trip like the back of her hand.
This trip is a lot like our trip to Oklahoma. The team is Natalie Gleadall, myself (Ashley Lance), Haley Millsap, Jillian Brodd, and Kathryn Fowler, with Christina Miller playing as an individual. Our practice round is at 9 tomorrow morning, and a lot of our parents will be in town waiting in the traveling grove for us when we get off the course.
This is one of my favorite parts of the trip, and it is unique to our team. It gives us a chance to spend some time with our families after the round and rejuvenate before going back out and practicing. It is a great little break in the midst of the competition.
On Saturday, we are wearing pink hats since October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. So many young women are affected by breast cancer every year that it will be great to see all the teams in their pink supporting such a tremendous cause!
We had a great week of practice after Oklahoma, and we look forward to having some fun this weekend. We know that if we have fun, the scores will take care of themselves.
The first round starts on Friday and you can follow us by going to www.olemisssports.com and clicking on the live scoring link on the women's golf schedule page.
