Sara Grantham Takes Second At Tennessee Open

7/23/2008 | Women's Golf

CROSSVILLE, Tenn. Rising junior Sara Grantham, of the Ole Miss women’s golf team, continued her solid play this summer, earning a second place finish at the Tennessee Women’s Open Championship Wednesday.  Grantham shot a 74-72-75--221 at the Bear Trace/Cumberland Mountain Golf Course, to finish as the low amateur in the field, just one stroke behind winner Marci Turner of Tompkinsville, Ky.

“I am so excited for Sara,” head coach Michele Drinkard said.  “She is having a great summer and has taken her game to the next level.  Finishing second in a professional tournament is quite an accomplishment as an amateur.  She is a special player, and her tireless work ethic is paying off dividends.  We can’t wait for our fall season to begin.”

Earlier in the summer, Grantham (Wilsonville, Ala.) captured the Alabama Women’s State Amateur Championship.  Last week, she advanced to the second round of match play at the prestigious North/South Amateur Championship.
