Lady Rebel Golfers At North & South Amateur

VILLAGE OF PINEHURST, N.C. Four members of the Ole Miss women’s golf team are competing in the North & South Amateur Championship this week at the famed Pinehurst Golf Resort.

Rising senior Dori Carter, upcoming juniors Sara Grantham and Andrea Buccilla and sophomore Jillian Brodd are among 156 players competing in stroke play qualifying, which began Monday and concludes Tuesday on Pinehurst Nos. 2 and 8. That will determine the remainder of the field for six rounds of match play beginning Wednesday.

“It’s nice to have four members of our team playing in the prestigious North & South Amateur,” head coach Michele Drinkard said. “The North & South will have one of the finest championship field of amateurs and Pinehurst #2 & #8 are two of the most challenging courses a player will ever face. Our team always looks forward to this championship and in a way kicks off our season by motivating us for the fall."

The 36-hole final match will be played Sunday on the famed No. 2 course, which hosts the upcoming U.S. Men’s Amateur in mid August.
