OXFORD, Miss. Ole Miss women's golf head coach Michele Drinkard announced Monday that Kathryn Fowler of Americus, Ga., and Shelby Sain of Bolivar, Tenn., have signed national letters of intent to join the program beginning in the 2009-10 season.

Fowler attends Southland Academy and is an outstanding student-athlete, boasting a 4.0 grade point average. The 2008 National Commended Merit Scholar is ranked third in her class. She plans to enter the Honors College at Ole Miss.

On the course, Fowler received the Southeastern Junior Golf Tour (SJGT) Sportsmanship Award in 2005. She was named Georgia Independent School Association (GISA) Class AAA All-State in 2006 and AAA All-Region in 2007 and 2008. In addition, she was the AAA Girl's State Low Medalist in 2006, 2007 and 2008.

"We are very excited to have both these young ladies join our Ole Miss family," Drinkard said. "Not only is Kathryn an outstanding student, but she is an outstanding player as well. She is very dedicated to being the best she can be and brings that positive energy out to the course every day."

Sain, who attends Bolivar Central, played in several AJGA tournaments in 2008. She competed in the Tennessee State Championships all four years as the Region 8 Champion. This fall she posted a personal best 70 to take medalist honors at the Region 8 Championship.

"Shelby has grown up as a dedicated Ole Miss fan, and we are thrilled that she chose to play her college golf with us next year. She has exceptional length off the tee and is definitely going to be a diamond in the rough for us."

Sain and Fowler join Arkansas standout Haley Sanders as the 2009-10 signing class for the Rebels, who are currently ranked No. 35 in the nation by Golfweek.
