10/26/2008 | Women's Golf
Senior Dori Carter carded a third round 72 to finish with a 217 and tied for fifth. She concluded the fall with three top five finishes including back-to-back runner-up showings at the Johnie Imes Invitational and the Mercedes Benz Championship. The All-American did not have a finish outside the top 20 this fall.
Junior Sara Grantham tied for 17th with a final round 72 that left her with a 226 total. It marked her second top 20 finish of the fall. Senior Rachel Ingram turned in a career-low 71 in the final round to boost the Lady Rebels to their third consecutive top five performance.
Rounding out the Rebels, sophomore Jillian Brodd and freshman Ashley Lance both shot 78 in the final round.
“Coach (Alexis) Rather and I have been talking about finishing strong, and that is exactly what the team did today,” head coach Michele Drinkard said. “Rachel stepped up big with her 71. Nice to see her hard work this summer and fall reward her.
“Dori played a solid tournament finishing with a 25-foot birdie and a Payne Stewart style fist pump. Sara also played well today by owning the par 3’s. Of her five birdies four of them were on the Par 3’s. This was a great way to finish our fall and keep us motivated this offseason. Once you get a taste of finishing on top it becomes very addictive.”
The Rebels will begin the spring season Feb. 22-24 at the Kiawah Island Intercollegiate in
