Drinkard took over the reins of the program in May of this year and seeks to take the Lady Rebels to national prominence.
The team will get an early test this weekend at the Yeaman’s Hall Golf Club. Of the 20 teams, 12 participated in a NCAA Regional last year and seven finished ranked in the top 30 in the nation.
“Our team philosophy is to prepare thoroughly and then put our preparation to the test in a tournament,” Drinkard said. “We have had three good weeks of preparation for Yeamans Hall, and a very competitive qualifier. Now it’s time to take our game on the road and compete. We are ready, and we are looking for a good start to the fall season.”
The team will be led by junior Dori Carter, who returns after leading the team last year with two top-five, four top-10 and seven top-20 finishes. She qualified for the U.S. Amateur this summer.
Joining Carter will be fellow returnees, Rachel Ingram Sara Grantham and Katherine Jones and freshman Jillian Brodd, who will make her debut for the Lady Rebels this weekend.
This year’s field includes Alabama, College of Charleston, Florida State, Furman, Louisiana State, Maryland, Miami, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, North Carolina, North Carolina State, Notre Dame, Penn State, Richmond, South Carolina, South Florida,
