Day One Concludes In Tunica

TUNICA, Miss. - The hosting Ole Miss Lady Rebel golf team wrapped up round one of the Southeastern Conference Championships Friday at Tunica National in 11th place after a team score of 321.
Auburn leads the field of 12 SEC schools after a first-round 291 (+3). They hold an eight-stroke lead over Tennessee (299). Georgia and Arkansas are tied for third at 301, while Alabama and LSU are tied for fifth at 303.
Sophomore Katie Davidson began her round with a solid one-over back nine to end the day with the Lady Rebels' low score of 76. She will tee off round two tied with five others at 19th.
Junior Sarah Kate Cousart follows Davidson in the lineup's scoring with an 80. Freshman Katherine Jones carded an opening-round 82, junior Laura Evans an 83, and senior leader Nikki Hadd a rare 86.
Scores were high across the board all day as the round stroke average for all players was 78.00. Ole Miss does lead the in-state rivalry after day one with a nine-stroke advantage over the Lady Bulldogs of Mississippi State.
Round two tee times begin at 8:30 a.m. Saturday at the challenging wind-dominated Tunica National par 72 course.
