Lady Rebels Take 14th At Derby Invitational

AUBURN, Ala. - The Ole Miss women's golf team carded a final round of 314 in taking 14th place at the Derby Invitational held at the Auburn University Course. The Lady Rebels posted a three-day total of 300-320-314--934 in closing out the fall portion of the 2005-06 schedule.
"We were a little better today," said Ole Miss head coach Meghan Bolger. "After a fantastic round of Friday we slacked off yesterday and I felt better about our play today. We can now go in to our winter workouts and try to fine tune a few things. I am looking forward to the spring season and seeing some improvement from everyone."
Leading the way for Ole Miss was senior Laura Evans, who posted a tournament total of 74-77-77--228. Evans finished the tournament in a tie for 28th place in the individual standings. Next was freshman Dori Carter. Carter finished tied for 44th place with her three-round total of 73-83-75--231.
Junior Katie Davidson finished in 65th place with her tournament total of 75-78-86--239. Freshman Rachel Ingram shot a 78-82-81--241 to tie for 69th place. Fellow freshman J.J. Flynn tied for 84th place as she carded an 86-86-81--253. Freshman Megan Johnson competed in the tournament as an individual. Johnson took home 90th place with her tournament total of 90-90-87--267.
The host Auburn Tigers took home the team title. AU posted a three-round total of 291-302-286--879. Duke University was one shot behind the Tigers as they posted a 294-294-292--880. Maria Martinez of Auburn was the individual winner. Martinez posted a 69-72-68--209.
Ole Miss will take some time off for winter workouts before resuming tournament play on March 3, when they travel to Baton Rouge, La., for the LSU/Cleveland Golf Classic.
