Lady Rebels In Sixth At Derby Invitational

AUBURN, Ala. - The Ole Miss women's golf team posted a score of 300 in the opening round of play at the Derby Invitational hosted at the Auburn University Course on Friday. The 300-point total is good for a sixth-place standing in the team rankings.
"This is by far our best round of the fall," said Ole Miss head coach Meghan Bolger. "I think all of the girls were really focused today. I am hoping for similar results in the rest of the tournament."
Leading the way for the Lady Rebels on Friday was freshman Dori Carter. Carter shot a 1-over-par 73 and currently sits tied for eighth place in the individual standings. Following Carter is senior Laura Evans who is tied for 13th place. Evans carded a 74 in the opening round of play.
Junior Katie Davidson is tied for 19th place as she shot a 75 for the first round. Freshman Rachel Ingram is tied for 51st place with her score of 78. Rounding out the team scoring for the Lady Rebels is freshman J.J. Flynn. Flynn tallied an 86 on Friday and is in 84th place. Freshman Megan Johnson is competing as an individual at the tournament. Johnson carded a 90 on Friday and sits in 88th place.
Ole Miss will return to the course tomorrow for the second round of action beginning at 8:30 a.m. The final round of the Derby Invitational will tee off at 8:30 a.m., on Sunday.
