Lady Rebels Finish In Seventh At Chrysler Challenge

SAN DESTIN, Fla. - The Ole Miss women's golf team took home a seventh place finish at the Chrysler Challenge held in San Destin, Fla., over the weekend. Freshman Dori Carter led the Lady Rebels with a three-round score of 74-72-80--226 at the tournament which was held at The Raven Course and was hosted by Florida State. Carter finished in a tie for eighth place in the individual standings.

"Throughout the fall we have shown signs of brilliance," said Ole Miss head coach Meghan Bolger. "We consistently play two great rounds and then struggle in our third round of play. We have not been able to close the deal. I am very encouraged by the effort of the women on our team and I am confident we are going to continue to improve and work through that final round."

Freshman Rachel Ingram narrowly missed a top 10 finish for the Lady Rebels. Ingram, who was competing in the tournament as an individual, tied for 14th place with her three-round total of 74-76-78--228. Ingram's first-round score of 74 was a career best.

Senior Laura Evans pulled out a tie for 18th place with her tournament total of 78-75-77--230. She was followed by junior Katie Davidson's 24th place tie. Davidson tallied a three-round mark of 76-80-78---234. Junior Sarah Kate Cousart was Ole Miss' fourth individual with her 39th place finish. Cousart carded a 84-82-83--249 for the tournament, while freshman Katherine Jones rounded out Ole Miss' field with her 40th place finish. Jones' scorecard showed a 81-83-87--251.

Ole Miss will conclude the fall season this coming weekend when they travel to Auburn, Ala., for the Derby Invitational. Play begins on Friday, Nov. 4 and concludes on Sunday, Nov. 6.
