Lady Rebel Golfer Earns Top 10 Finish At Cougar Classic

CHARLESTON, S.C. - Senior Nikki Hadd of the Ole Miss women's golf team finished tied for ninth at the 2004 Cougar Classic hosted by the College of Charleston to lead the Lady Rebels, who ended the two-day tournament in seventh place.
The Lady Rebels fired a final round 311 at the Yeaman's Hall Golf Club to end with a total of 294-299-311--904. LSU won the tournament with a 288-295-290--873. Tennessee finished second at 289-292-295--876, and Furman came in third with a 298-293-298-881.
Hadd turned in a final-round 71 to post a 218 and earn her fourth career top 10 finish. Sophomore Katie Davidson, who carded a career-best 69 in the first round, finished tied for 15th with a 69-77-76--222 total. It marks her third career top 20 showing.
Sarah Kate Cousart tied for 45th with a 75-74-82--231, Katherine Jones posted a 77-77-79--233 and Laura Evans turned in a 82-79-83--244 to round out the Lady Rebel scoring.
Rachel Smith of Virginia fired a final-round 68 to win medalist honors with a total of 213, beating out Tennessee's Violeta Retamoza (212) by one stroke.
Ole Miss continues fall play Sept. 20-21 at the University of Alabama Ann Rhoads Intercollegiate in Tuscaloosa, Ala.
