Shooters Knock Off West Virginia In GARC Dual Match

MORGANTOWN, W. Va. - Junior Megan Sandage registered an aggregate total of 1152, while sophomore Jennifer Lorenzen turned in an 1148 as the Ole Miss rifle team edged West Virginia, 4575-4574, Saturday afternoon. The Rebels improve their overall and smallbore records to 3-2, while moving to 5-1 in air rifle.
Ole Miss posted a 2274-2269 victory over the Mountaineers in smallbore and finished second out of three teams in air rifle (WVU 2305, Ole Miss 2301, TCU 2225).
"We had some solid individual performances in this match," Ole Miss head coach Valerie Boothe said. "It's always great to finish ahead of a strong Great America Rifle Conference opponent, like West Virginia. We have one more competition before the holidays and hope to have a good week of practice leading up to our Nebraska trip."
Sophomore Mara Polonsky tied for first in smallbore (575), while Lorenzen placed third (571). Junior Samantha Leach added a 569, while freshman Casey Phillips registered a 566 and freshman Shannon Wilson fired a 565.
Sandage tied for first in air rifle (585), while Lorenzen took fourth (581). Phillips fired a 571, while Leach, Wilson and junior Natasha Phillips all posted 569s.
