OXFORD, Miss. - Teesha Ash and Elizabeth Hoffman of the Ole Miss women's golf team were named as National Golf Coaches Association (NGCA) Academic All-America selections in recognition of their work on the golf course as well as in the classroom during the 2001-02 season.

"We are incredibly proud of what these two young ladies have been able to accomplish at Ole Miss," said Lynnette Johnson, Senior Women's Administrator. "Both Teesha and Elizabeth had tremendous seasons on the golf course, and for them to be able to maintain the grades they did, shows a lot of commitment and desire. They are what being a student-athlete is all about."

Ash, a sophomore from Ringold, Ga., earned a 3.86 grade-point average while majoring in Management. She also was named to the UMAA Honor Roll for the spring semester. The sophomore was third on the team in stroke average and posted some impressive finishes, taking third place at the USF/Beacon Woods Invitational. Her finish helped lead the team to the tournament title, it's first since 1998. Ash notched four top-20 finishes on the season.

Hoffman, a senior on the team last season, recorded a 3.87 grade-point average for her collegiate career while majoring in English with a minor in Business. The Kingwood, Texas, native also became the first Ole Miss student-athlete to be inducted into Phi Beta Kappa academic honorary this past year. Hoffman was also named as a member of the Verizon Academic All-District VI team. She led the team in stroke average on the season and posted five top-20 finishes, including a sixth-place finish at the Beacon Woods Invitational and a tie for 18th at the SEC Championships.
