Lady Rebels Finish Mason Rudolph Championships at No. 11

FRANKLIN, Tenn. - The Lady Rebels made a marked improvement in the second round of play at the Mason Rudolph Championships on Monday, but were unable to carry that momentum over to Tuesday's final round as Ole Miss finished in the No. 11 spot with a 311-305-313-929 performance.
The tournament was played on the Ironhorse Course at the Legends Club of Tennessee, a 72-par, 6223-yard course.
"The team played tough in their first tournament of what we believe will be a very successful year," said Ole Miss head coach Meghan Bolger. "The golfers believe in themselves, and I believe in them as well. One tournament is done, but we have plenty more to go this season."
Bernadette Luse set the pace for Ole Miss for the tournament as she fired a 76-78-73-227 for the two days of the tournament, but it wasn't enough to push the Lady Rebels into the top-10 of the field.
"Bernadette played with LSU's Meredith Duncan, the Women's Amateur Champion, and it was exciting to watch them play," Bolger said. "She shot 1-over-par Tuesday, and it was exciting to watch. I am very happy with her. She's our captain and she is leading the team with her play and her attitude."
Kerrie Davis set the standard for the Lady Rebels in the first two rounds of play and continued to be one of the driving forces behind the Ole Miss charge, but her 76-75-81-232 performance was not enough to help the team move up in the tough field.
"It was a good trip, overall," Bolger said. "Ohio State shot 10-under-par for the day so that shows you how tough the field of competition was today. We know what we need to work on and we are ready to do it as a team."
The Lady Rebels will take to the road again Oct. 12-14 at the USF/Beacon Woods Invitational in New Port Richey, Fla. The tournament is hosted by the University of South Florida.
