Lady Rebel Golf Finishes Ninth At 2001 SEC Championships

GAINESVILLE, Fla. -

The Ole Miss women's golf team finished in ninth place at the 2001 SEC Championships at the University of Florida Golf Course. The Lady Rebels had a 54-hole total of 314-308-315--937.

Georgia took the SEC Championship with a score of 290-290-292--872. The Lady Bulldogs outlasted LSU by five strokes. The Lady Tigers finished the tournament with a 287-289-301--877.

South Carolina's Kristy McPherson took individual honors with a 54-hole total of 67-70-70--207. She outlasted LSU's Katy Harris, who fired a 74-65-71--210.

Senior Marci Kornegay, who closed out her Ole Miss career with a 79-76-71--226 to tie for 20th place, paced the Lady Rebels. Her final round score of 71 ties her career-best round. Bernadette Luse tied for 38th place with a 78-78-77--233. Elizabeth Hoffman had a 54-hole total of 78-77-84--239 and tied for 48th place.

Senior Teresa Brown also closed out her Lady Rebel career with a 78-77-84--239 to tie for 50th place. Lori Cate tied for 56th place with a score of 84-77-90--251.

Highlights of the 2001 SEC Women's Golf Championships will be shown on April 26 at 6 p.m. (CT) on FOX Sports Net South.
