Women's Golf to Compete in Beacon Woods Invitational

OXFORD, Miss.--The Ole Miss women's golf team, coming off a first-place finish at the Lady Rebel Intercollegiate, will participate in the Beacon Woods Invitational in New Port Richey, Fla., this weekend.

The 36-hole tournament begins Friday and ends Sunday and includes host school South Florida, Central Florida, Florida State, Iowa State, Miami, Memphis, Mississippi State, South Alabama, Stetson, Toledo and Tulane.

Ole Miss fired a tournament record 594 at the Lady Rebel Intercollegiate last weekend as Megan Breen captured medalist honors with a 74-71--145. Breen, a senior from Longwood, Fla., has finished in the top 10 in each of the Lady Rebels' three tournaments this year.

Marci Kornegay, a sophomore from Savannah, Ga., was the runner-up at the Lady Rebel last weekend with a 73-74--147. Robyn Rinaldo, a junior from Dade City, Fla., tied for third with a 73-75--148 for her second top five finish and third top 20 in three tournaments this year.

Teresa Brown, a sophomore from Windermere, Fla., captured her first career top 20 finish at the Lady Rebel as she tied for 13th with an 80-75--155. Anna Kirchner, a senior from Spring, Texas, tied for 21st with a 79-77--156, her best finish of the year.

"We are looking forward to playing in the Beacon Woods," Ole Miss head coach Keil Purdom said. "We have been playing well so far this year, and I am looking for another good performance from the team."

Ole Miss finished second in last year's Beacon Woods as Breen won the tournament with a 75-73-75--223.
