Women's Golf Participates in Auburn Tiger Invitational

OXFORD, Miss. - The Ole Miss women's golf team will travel to Opelika, Ala., to compete in the Auburn Tiger Invitational Friday through Sunday at the Saugahatchee Country Club.
Ole Miss is coming off a record-breaking performance at the Lady Seminole Invitational last weekend. In their first tournament of the 1998-99 season, the Lady Rebels fired an 894, the lowest tournament total in Ole Miss history. The 287 in the second round also broke the record for lowest single-round score in a tournament by a Lady Rebel team and was the lowest round of any team in this year's Lady Seminole.
Megan Breen, a senior from Longwood, Fla., tied for seventh in the Lady Seminole by shooting a 77-69-72--218. Her second-round score of 69 is a career low and the second-lowest single-round score by a Lady Rebel golfer, and her 218 is the lowest three-round score in Ole Miss history.
Robyn Rinaldo, a junior from Dade City, Fla., tied for 15th with a 73-72-78--223, the fourth-lowest three-round score in Ole Miss history. Her second-round 72 ties her for the fifth- lowest single-round score by a Lady Rebel.
Marci Kornegay, a sophomore from Savannah, Ga., tied for 28th at the Lady Seminole with a 78-71-78--227. Her 71 in the second round is a career-low and the fourth-lowest single- round score in Ole Miss history.
Also competing in the tournament this weekend are sophomore Teresa Brown of Windermere, Fla., and senior Anna Kirchner of Spring, Texas. Brown tied for 46th with a 79-75- 77--231. Kirchner tied a career-low with a 74 and tied for 63rd with a 74-81-81--236.
Kim Tudor, a freshman from Winter Garden, Fla., will make her first appearance as a Lady Rebel and will compete as an individual in the tournament this weekend.
Other teams participating in the Auburn tournament are Alabama, Central Florida, Florida, Florida State, Furman, Georgia, LSU, Miami, Mississippi State and Tulane.
"We are looking forward to playing in this tournament," Ole Miss head coach Keil Purdom said. "We got off to a great start at the Lady Seminole last weekend, and we hope to keep on playing well at Auburn."
