OXFORD, Miss. -- Senior Haymes Snedeker, a member of the Ole Miss Rebel golf squad, was named to the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) Scholastic All-America team, it was announced on Tuesday. He posted a cumulative grade-point average of 3.27 in Business.

"This is another tremendous honor for Haymes," said head coach Woody Cowart, who completed his sixth season at Ole Miss. "During his career at Ole Miss, Haymes represented everything a student-athlete should be. His work both in the classroom and on the golf course made him a valuable asset to the Rebel golf program and Ole Miss."

A native of Nashville, Tenn., Snedeker was the Rebels' top golfer in the 1998-99 campaign. He recorded a team-best stroke average of 73.25 and posted five top-10 finishes this past season. Snedeker won medalist honors at the Gary Koch-Cleveland Golf Intercollegiate and Billy Hitchcock Intercollegiate, becoming the first Rebel golfer to win two tournaments in the same year since David Pegee did so in 1984-85. A 1999 All-Southeastern Conference first team selection, Snedeker tied the school record for lowest three-round score with a 203 at the Gary Koch-Cleveland Golf Intercollegiate. He was also ranked among the top 10 in stroke average in the SEC during the entire 1998-99 campaign.

Snedeker was named to the SEC Academic Honor Roll for the fourth straight year in 1999. One of eight student-athletes to be selected to Who's Who Among American Colleges and Universities, he was named to one of Ole Miss' three honor rolls (Chancellor's, Dean's, UMAA) nine of his 10 semesters. Snedeker was active in Kappa Sigma fraternity, and also served on the Ole Miss Student-Athlete Advisory Board.

The Rebels completed their 1998-99 season last week at the NCAA Men's Golf Championships, placing in a tie for 24th. Ole Miss' NCAA Championships appearance was the program's first since 1985. The Rebels finished in the top 10 in 11 of their 13 tournaments in 1998-99.
