KOHLER, Wis. -- Robyn Rinaldo, a member of the Ole Miss women's golf team, is tied for 132nd place with a 17-over par at the U.S. Women's Open at Blackwolf Run Golf Course. Rinaldo was nine-over par through 14 holes of the second round on Friday when play was suspended at 8:40 p.m. The second round will resume at 6:45 a.m. Saturday.
Rinaldo shot an eight-over par 79 in the first round on Thursday and is not projected to make the cut. Rinaldo, a native of Dade City, Fla., qualified for the U.S. Open field by finishing fourth in the Florida Sectional with a 74 and was the low amateur at the sectional. She is the first Lady Rebel golfer to qualify for a professional tournament.
As a sophomore in 1997-98, Rinaldo earned All-SEC honors for the second year in a row and finished with two top five, three top 10 and five top 20 performances, including a first-place finish at the Lady Seminole Classic. She helped lead the Lady Rebels to their first-ever NCAA East Regional appearance at the Duke Golf Club in Durham, N.C.
