OXFORD, Miss. - The Ole Miss women's golf team signed Kerrie Davis of New Orleans, La., to attend the University of Mississippi and play golf in the 1999-2000 academic year, Ole Miss head coach Keil Purdom announced Monday.
Davis, a senior at McDonogh 35 Senior High School in New Orleans, is a four-year letterwinner for the women's golf team. She is a Junior Olympic gold medalist and won an award for the longest drive at the American Junior Golf Association Robert Trent Jones tournament.
At McDonogh, Davis has a 3.5 grade-point average and has been named to the Gold Honor Roll. She earned the Superintendent's Academic Award and won first place in the science fair three years.
"I am very happy to have Kerrie join our team," Purdom said. "She will be an asset to our program and will help lead the Lady Rebels in the direction we want to go."
