Lady Rebel Netters No. 7 in Latest Rankings

OXFORD, Miss - The Ole Miss women's tennis team remained at No. 7 in the fifth edition of the Rolex Collegiate Rankings, released Tuesday by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA).

The Lady Rebels have been ranked in the top 10 the entire season. Stanford, Florida, Georgia, Duke, Texas, California, Brigham Young, Arizona State and William & Mary round out the top 10. The SEC has had three teams in the top 10 in every poll this season, and currently there are seven teams among the top 25 in the nation.

The Lady Rebels are waiting word on the NCAA selections which will be released Wednesday by the NCAA Subcommittee. The top 10 teams advance automatically to the Sweet Sixteen in Notre Dame, Ind., while the remaining teams are paired in six different regionals. In the individual rankings, Agnes Muzamel moved up a spot to No. 12 in the nation. Muzamel is currently 27-11 overall and 13-8 at the No. 1 position. She earned All-SEC honors for the third year in a row and also made the SEC Academic Honor Roll. Muzamel is also a GTE/CoSIDA Academic All-America nominee.

Sophomore Ivona Mihailova remained at No. 24 in the nation with a 28-14 overall record, 11-9 at the No. 2 position. Mihailova, along with Muzamel, has been ranked in the top 25 the entire season.

In the doubles rankings, Muzamel and Courtenay Chapman are ranked No. 9 in the country. The two presently hold a 22-7 overall record, 12-4 at the No. 1 position.

Muzamel, Mihailova and Chapman will go into the NCAAs as three of the nation's top players, as this is the final inidividual rankings until the end of the NCAA Championships.
