Lady Rebel Netters Honored by SEC

OXFORD, Miss. - The No. 6 nationally-ranked Ole Miss women's tennis team led the Southeastern Conference with six players named to the 1998 Women's Tennis Academic Honor Roll released Wednesday.
Missy Brewer, Courtenay Chapman, Martina Crha, Irena Mihailova, Ivona Mihailova and Agnes Muzamel were one of 42 student-athletes on the honor roll. Irena Mihailova was one of four student-athletes on the list to boast a perfect 4.0 grade point average. She is majoring in General Business.
"To lead the conference in academic achievement and be one of the top teams in the nation, is a tribute to the players," Head Coach Jerry Montgomery said. "To maintain a high level of success on and off the court takes hard work and dedication. Missy, Courtenay, Martina, Irena, Ivona, and Agnes are prime examples of what it means to be a student-athlete. I am proud of them for their accomplishments."
Brewer, a sophomore Biological Science major , holds a 3.76 grade point average and has been a member of the Chancellor's Honor Roll. A native of Summit, Miss., Brewer is currently 8-5 at the No. 6 position and has won four in a row.
A product of Jackson, Miss., Chapman holds a 3.55 GPA in Radio & Television Journalism. A junior for the Lady Rebels, Chapman is making her second consecutive appearance on the SEC honor roll. She is also a member of the Chancellor's Honor Roll and the Dean's Honor Roll. Chapman is currently 13-7 at the No. 3 position and teams with Muzamel for a No. 8 ranking in doubles.
Crha, of Boca Raton, Fla., owns a 3.40 GPA in German. The only senior on the team, Crha boasts a 12-8 record at the No. 4 position. Ivona Mihailova, twin sister of Irena, registers a 3.58 GPA in General Business. She is a member of the Dean's List and currently has a 11-9 record at the No.2 position. Muzamel, the nation's 12th-ranked singles player, holds a 3.62 GPA in Political Science. A Dean's Honor Roll member, Muzamel is 12-8 at the No. 1 position.
To be eligible for the honor roll, a student-athlete must have a 3.0 grade point average for either the past year or for her career, be a sophomore or higher in academic classification and have 24 semester or 26 quarter hours countable toward a degree.
Ole Miss will be competing in the SEC Tournament Championship this weekend in Lexington, Ky. The Lady Rebels are the fourth seed and will play the winner of the Arkansas/Alabama match, Friday at 2:30 p.m.
