Breen, Rinaldo Named to All-SEC First Team

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Ole Miss senior Megan Breen and junior Robyn Rinaldo, members of the Lady Rebel golf team, have been named to the All-Southeastern Conference first team, as voted on by the league's coaches. Breen and Rinaldo are the first two golfers in Lady Rebel history to earn All-SEC first team accolades.
A 1998 All-SEC second team pick, Breen posted the highest finish for the Lady Rebels at last weekend's SEC Championships, placing fifth with a three-day score of 77-74-74-225. Earlier this spring, Breen placed 10th at the LSU-Fairwood Invitational, breaking the Lady Rebel record of top-10 finishes in a season and a career. Breen now has eight top-10 showings this season and 19 top-10 finishes for her career. Breen, who earned All-SEC honorable mention accolades in 1996 and 1997, is second on the team in stroke average at 75.64 this season.
Rinaldo, who was All-SEC honorable mention in 1997 and 1998, placed in a tie for 18th at last weekend's SEC Championships with a score of 74-78-80-232. Earlier this season, Rinaldo posted her second career win, placing first at the Central Florida Invitational in February. Rinaldo leads the team in stroke average at 75.50 and has recorded four top-five finishes this year.
The Lady Rebels placed third at the SEC Championships last weekend, and now await a bid to the NCAA East Regional, which will be held in Columbia, S.C., May 6-8. The third-place finish at the SEC Championships was the highest ever by a Lady Rebel team.
