Women's Golf Finishes 12th At Lady Rebel Intercollegiate

OXFORD, Miss. -- Leading the field start to finish, Arkansas won the team title of the 5th-annual Lady Rebel Intercollegiate with a 313-301-313--927. The host Ole Miss women's golf team fired a 313 today, its best round of the tournament, to place 12th with a final score of 330- 318-313--961.

Placing second in the Lady Rebel, which is part of the Rolex Collegiate Tour, was Arkansas State with a 323-307-310--940, followed by Arkansas-Little Rock, who slid up five spots today with a final-round best 301 and finished with a three-day total of 942.

College of Charleston's Christiane Gaul overcame a four-stroke lead entering the final day to take the individual crown, 77-74-75--226, one stroke ahead of Razorback Johanna Danielsson.

Ole Miss had three golfers, Robyn Rinaldo, Elizabeth Hoffman and Teresa Brown, tie for 21st in the tournament. Rinaldo, a senior from Dade City, Fla., posted the team's lowest single-round score of the event with a 75 on Saturday and finished with a 84-75-77--236. Hoffman, a sophomore-transfer from Kingwood, Texas, posted a 77-82-77--236 in only her second event with the Lady Rebels. Competing as an individual, Brown, a junior from Windermere, Fla., ranked in the top 20 through the first two rounds and turned in a score of 79- 78-79--236.

Junior Marci Kornegay of Savannah, Ga., tied for 51st with a 83-81-80--244, while Allison Burrow, a redshirt-freshman from Garland, Texas, turned in her best collegiate round today with a 79 and ended with a 86-86-79--251. Fellow redshirt-freshman Roiann Boisture of Princeton, Ky., competed in her first college tournament and finished with a 85-88-97--280.

Ole Miss is next in action Oct. 15-17 at the Mercedes-Benz Women's Collegiate Championship at the Gettsyvue Country Club in Knoxville, Tenn.
