Lady Rebels Travel to Lady Paladin Invitational

OXFORD, Miss. - The Ole Miss women's golf team will be traveling to Greenville, S.C. this weekend to compete in the Lady Paladin Invitational. The three-day 54-hole tournament will run Friday through Sunday at the Furman University Golf Course, a par 72, 5,917-yard course.
The Lady Paladin is in its 29th year and has featured such celebrated past champions as Betsy King, Nancy Lopez, Sherri Turner, Dottie Pepper and Donna Andrews. This year's field includes Appalachian State, No. 11 Auburn, Coastal Carolina, College of Charleston, No. 24 Florida, Florida State, No. 6 Georgia, Kentucky, Louisville, Memphis, Miami (Fla.), North Carolina, UNC-Greensboro, No. 17 South Carolina, No. 20 TCU, No. 15 Tennessee, No. 7 Texas, Tulane, Vanderbilt, Wake Forest, Winthrop, Wofford and the host No. 21 Furman.
Ole Miss was last in action Oct. 15-17 at the Mercedes-Benz Championships in Knoxville, Tenn. The Lady Rebels placed 15th in the tournament led by senior Robyn Rinaldo, who fired a 78-77-78--233 to tie for 29th. A 1999 All-SEC first team selection, Rinaldo holds two career tournament titles with seven top-five finishes and will be looking to raise those totals in Greenville.
Also expected to compete this weekend will be Elizabeth Hoffman, Teresa Brown and Marci Kornegay. Hoffman, a sophomore and first-year Lady Rebel from Kingwood, Texas, and Brown, a junior from Windermere, Fla., are tied for second on the team in stroke average this fall with an 80.22 mark. Both golfers also tied for 21st in the Lady Rebel Intercollegiate earlier this month.
Kornegay, a junior from Savannah, Ga., will be shooting for her fifth career top-20 finish. She placed 16th in the season-opening Auburn Tiger Invitational in September, totaling a 76-76- 77--229.
