9/6/2026 | Volleyball
OXFORD, Miss. – The Ole Miss volleyball program turned in a blistering offensive performance, rolling past Central Arkansas, 3-0, on Sunday afternoon at the Gillom Athletics Performance Center.
Melia Johnson paced the Rebels (5-2, 0-0 SEC), tallying 12 kills on .458 hitting, while Shayla Meyer added nine kills on .300 hitting. As a whole, the Rebels hit .376 against the Sugar Bears (0-5, 0-0 UAC), recording the program's best hitting percentage since a Sep. 12, 2025 win over Louisiana.
The day opened with a dream start for the offense, winning the first five points of the match, behind a pair of service aces from Meyer. With those two aces, Meyer moved into sole possession of eighth all-time in total service aces in the rally scoring era at Ole Miss with 78 and had the Rebels surge into an insurmountable advantage. The Rebels hit .393 as a team, with Johnson going a perfect 4-for-4 on kills as the Rebels earned a comfortable opening set win, 25-18.
Once again, the Rebels surged to an early 8-3 lead in the second set, as the offensive attack remained diverse. Jorda Crook and Johnson continued to terrorize the Sugar Bears defense, going errorless as the Rebels quickly stacked up kills. The Rebels got more contributions from Tenesyn Frye and Nina Moorer, who helped diversify the attack, with the latter adding a service ace. Johnson would close out the second set, 25-18, with a kill and a block alongside Moorer to make quick work of the visitors.
Central Arkansas gained some early momentum in the third set, trading points with the Rebels and keeping the set in-check. However, the Rebels turned to Jaidyn Hartsfield who came off the bench and provided immediate energy, registering seven kills on .583 hitting. Additionally, Hartsfield delivered a back-breaking run of serve following one of her kills to make it 14-11. Hartsfield delivered a career-high four service aces, all of which came during a 7-0 run, as the Rebels took control from there. Ultimately, the Rebels would get two late points off blocks from Carly Paugh, winning the final set, 25-17.
The Rebels are set to wrap up the home swing by hosting Clemson in the annual Showdown at the Net, as SEC programs face off against ACC teams all week. The match is slated for 6 p.m. CT, and will be streamed via SEC Network Plus.
