Track & Field’s Jordan Urrutia Advances to NCAA 200-Meter Final
6/10/2026 | Track and Field
EUGENE, Ore. – Ole Miss men's track & field sophomore Jordan Urrutia punched his ticket to the national final in the 200-meter dash, highlighting a short but impactful first day of the 2026 NCAA Outdoor Championships at Hayward Field on Wednesday.
Urrutia was third in the second heat at 20.36 (+0.1), missing out on one of the auto-bids by one spot but still fast enough to snare one of the three time qualifier spots to Friday's final set for 8:37 p.m. CT. Urrutia is the first Rebel to qualify for the NCAA final in the 200-meter since Olympian Isiah Young's national runner-up finish in 2013, and he is one of three underclassmen to advance.
That doesn't include Urrutia's exploits on Ole Miss' 4x100-meter relay, which concluded its historic 2026 campaign on Wednesday evening. A little more than two hours before the 200-meter semifinals, Urrutia was the second leg alongside junior Dekell Minor, sophomore Wesley Todd and sophomore Tarique Wright. The Rebel foursome passed the stick in 38.86, finishing 11th for Second-Team All-America honors.
The 11th-place showing is the second-best in Ole Miss history, trailing only a sixth-place effort by the 2002 relay of Chris Lawson, Kendrick Triggs, Taye Biddle and James Shelton. This is a fitting end for the fastest relay in Ole Miss history, the first to break the 39-second barrier – first with a 38.98 at the Ole Miss Classic and again with a 38.65 to finish fifth at the SEC Championships.
In the men's pole vault, senior Logan Kelley wrapped up his stellar Ole Miss career with his first All-America honor. Kelley finished tied for 14th at 5.35m/17-06.50, good for Second-Team All-America status. Kelley leaves as one of the best pole vaulters in Ole Miss history, ranked second indoors (5.46m/17-11) and tied for fourth outdoors (5.40m/17-08.50).
The Ole Miss women hit the track on Thursday, first with the 4x100-meter relay at 7:05 p.m. CT, with anchor leg Alicia Burnett returning in the 100-meter semifinals at 8:25 p.m. CT.
