Track & Field’s Akaoma Odeluga Tabbed CSC Academic All-American

OXFORD, Miss. – Ole Miss track & field junior Akaoma Odeluga has been named to the College Sports Communicators' Academic All-America Second Team, as announced by the CSC on Wednesday.
A force in both the thrower's circle and the classroom, Odeluga paired an incredible season in competition with success as a political science major, earning a 3.95 GPA.
The native of Munster, Indiana began her year during the indoor season as one of the nation's premier throwers, taking second place in the shot put and fourth in the weight throw at the NCAA Championships to score her first national points of her career.
Odeluga continued her momentum into the outdoor season, claiming her first career SEC title in the shot put while ranking among the nation's leaders in the hammer as well. A heartbreaking injury just before the 2026 NCAA Outdoor Championships kept her from competing at the event.
She adds CSC Academic All-American to a list of scholastic honors that includes the 2026 SEC Outdoor Women's Scholar-Athlete of the Year, USTFCCCA All Academic in 2025 and 2024, and CSC Academic All-District in each of the last two years.
Odeluga is the third CSC Academic All-American for the Ole Miss track & field program within the past three seasons, including Iangelo Atkinstall-Daley in 2025 and Ryann Helmers in 2024.
In order to be considered for Academic All-America status, student-athletes needed to advance to the national ballot following a selection to their CSC Academic All-District teams. From there, CSC members voted on the final teams across all divisions of NCAA and the NAIA.
