Women’s Tennis Caps Off Successful Weekend with Sweep Over Alabama

OXFORD, Miss. – No. 45 Ole Miss Women's Tennis was able to handle No. 44 Alabama, 4-0, in a Saturday morning showdown that marked their last SEC home match this season.
Ole Miss (11-9, 5-8 SEC) was able to move to 2-0 on the weekend with their victory over No. 44 Alabama (12-9, 4-9 SEC).
Starting off the morning with doubles, No. 9 Emily Welker and Andrea Nova would have no problems with Alabama's Kristina Paskauskas and Addison Bowman, cruising to a 6-0 win. Brooklyn Olson and Beatrice Stagno would close out doubles, defeating the Crimson Tide duo of Mary Sidelynk and Amina Salibayeva, 6-3.
Play would be halted on court two, with Klara Milicevic and Karla Bartel holding a 5-4 advantage over Alice Soulié and Riley Crowder.
Singles play began with Alabama surrendering a point, due to No. 71 Paskauskas medically retiring from her match against No. 18 Welker.
Continuing singles with a 2-0 margin, The Rebels would find their third point with Stagno defeating Mary Sidelynk, 6-3, 6-1. The Rebels complete their sweep of the Crimson Tide with Crowder besting Bowman, 6-0, 6-4.
Three matches remained unfinished: Soulié and No. 73 Milicevic would be knotted up, 6-3, 5-7; Nova and No. 118 Bartel would finish at, 5-7, 3-3; and Ichino Horikawa would end their match with a 6-3, 2-5 score.
The Rebels will play their last two home matches on Tuesday, April 7, at 11 a.m. and 4 p.m. against Mississippi Valley State and Memphis, respectively, at the Palmer/Salloum Outdoor Tennis Center.
