Emily Welker Earns All-SEC Second Team Honors

4/22/2026 | Women's Tennis

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – The Southeastern Conference announced the recipients of its postseason awards on Wednesday afternoon, with Emily Welker named to the All-SEC Second Team.

After an immaculate second season with the Rebels, this is the first postseason award Welker has received from the SEC.

"Emily earning a spot on the All-SEC team is a true testament to the work she's put in and the professionalism she's carried since the moment she arrived on campus," head coach Grant Roberts said. "She's been the backbone of our team and has led by example every single day. We couldn't be more proud of her, and we're incredibly grateful she chose to be an Ole Miss Rebel."

Welker has been a vital part of Ole Miss's success this season. In the fall, she earned Singles All-America honors after advancing to the semifinals of the NCAA Singles Championships and rising to a season-high No. 6 in the ITA singles rankings.

Welker has since remained in the top 20 nationally while compiling a 27-6 singles record, including eight wins over ranked opponents, highlighted by a victory over Arkansas' No. 23 Caroline Gomez Alonso.

This spring, she has also posted a 24-7 overall doubles record, including a ranked win alongside partner Andrea Nova over Vanderbilt's No. 6 duo of Celia-Belle Mohr and Sophia Webster in the second round of the SEC Tournament. Their strong play helped the pair climb to a season-high No. 8 in the ITA doubles rankings.

Ole Miss awaits its postseason fate as the field of 64 for the NCAA Team Championships will be revealed April 27 at 4:30 p.m. CT on NCAA.com.
