Track & Field’s Patchnalie Compere Shines Again, Rebels Wrap at UVA

4/18/2026 | Track and Field

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Ole Miss track & field freshman Patchnalie Compere dropped her 200-meter PR for a second straight week to lead the Rebels on the final day of the Virginia Challenge on Saturday.

Compere broke the 23-second barrier for the second time in eight days, today winning the invitational section of the women's 200-meter dash at a new career-best 22.94 (+1.6). That time lowers her hold on the Ole Miss wind-legal freshman record, and all-time it trails only three-time NCAA Champion McKenzie Long's 21.83 (+1.0) from 2024 and Jayda Eckford's 22.72 (+2.2) as a freshman in 2019 (Ole Miss' all-time list accept up to the NCAA qualifying allowable 4.0 meters per second wind reading).

That time also breaks her own Haitian national record for the second time in as many attempts, as just last week she became the first in the nation's history to break the 23-second barrier. Compere hails from Oakland Park, Florida but her parents' Haitian lineage allows her times to count on Haiti's all-time and season lists.

In the men's invite, sophomore Jordan Urrutia was unlucky with the wind yet again, running a blazing 20.37 for the win but above the allowable wind reading at +4.3 meters per second. In any conditions, that time ranks as the fastest by a Rebel since Olympian Isiah Young's 2013 school record of 20.12 seconds.

Senior Joshua Knox was sixth at an overall PR 21.05 (+1.3), while sophomore Tarique Wright was 15th at an all-conditions outdoor PR 21.39 (+2.2).

Junior Sterling Scott unleashed his best triple jump competition to date, finishing second at a slightly windy but all-conditions career-best leap of 16.43m/53-11 (+2.4). That distance shoots him up to No. 4 all-time at Ole Miss.

Other notable finishes for Ole Miss on Saturday came from freshman Ashton Hearn in the men's discus (fourth, 56.73m/186-1) and a PR from redshirt freshman Indya Dotson in the women's triple jump (14th, 12.11m/39-08.75; +0.5).

Ole Miss track & field will take next week off before returning to action May 2 at the LSU Invite.
