Men’s Tennis Completes Comeback Against No. 11 Vanderbilt

OXFORD, Miss. – After falling behind early, Ole Miss would win four straight singles courts to defeat No. 11 Vanderbilt, 4-3 on Sunday afternoon at the Palmer/Salloum Outdoor Tennis Center.
The match was knotted up at 3-3 with all eyes on court five as Ole Miss's Noah Schlagenhauf was battling Jack Satterfield in a third set to decide the match.
After dropping the second set, 4-6, Schlagenhauf went on a tear in the third, defeating Satterfield 6-1 to complete the Rebels' comeback after they fell behind 3-0 to begin the match.
The match began with No. 34 Ole Miss (14-3, 2-3 SEC) dropping the doubles point. Next, Vanderbilt (12-4, 4-2 SEC) carried its momentum into singles play, building a quick 3-0 lead after winning the first two singles courts.
What came next was the first of four straight singles victories for the Rebels as Matthieu Chambonniere started it off by defeating No. 90 Hoyoung Roh, 7-5, 6-0. Freshman Pietro Pampanin then followed by defeating Danil Panarin, 2-6, 6-2, 6-1.
Next, freshman Stefano D'Agostino tied the match after winning two straight tiebreaking sets against No. 115 Pablo Martinez Gomez, 7-6 (7-2), 7-6 (8-6), forcing the match to come down to Schalgenhuaf on court five.
Ole Miss men's tennis will travel to Gainesville, Florida, to take on No. 24 Florida on Friday, March 13, at 4 p.m., with the match taking place at the Alfred A. Ring Tennis Complex.
