Softball Rides Long Ball to Win over Louisiana Tech

OXFORD, Miss. – The Ole Miss softball program bounced back to earn a key victory, defeating Louisiana Tech, 5-1, on Wednesday night at the Ole Miss Softball Stadium.
The Rebels (20-11, 0-6 SEC) launched three home runs in the win, while Emilee Boyer kept the Bulldogs (17-11, 3-3 CUSA) in check with nine strikeouts in a complete game victory.
The day began with a bang for Boyer, who struck out four consecutive batters to open the game. In the second inning, her offense gave her the lead for good, thanks to a Cassie Reasner double and Taylor Roman home run to make it 2-0.
In the third inning, Kennedy Bunker joined the home run parade, launching a leadoff solo home run to make it 3-0. For good measure, Mackenzie Pickens reached on an error and Madi George blasted her team-leading ninth home run to make it 5-0.
Boyer continued to dominate in the circle, adding two more strikeouts in the fourth inning. While the Bulldogs were able to strike for a solo home run in the fifth inning, Boyer remained calm and generated two key groundouts to get out of a possible rally opportunity.
Boyer's big day continued with two strikeouts in the sixth inning and the senior would come back out in the seventh inning to secure a complete game victory. The Bulldogs registered an infield single in the seventh inning and a walk, but Boyer notched her ninth strikeout of the day to finish off the win.
The Rebels now turn their attention to welcoming No. 4 Oklahoma to town for a three-game series. Game one is set for Saturday at 2 p.m. CT and will be streamed via SEC Network Plus.
