Track & Field Scores in Weight Throw, Advances in Women’s 60-Meter at NCAA Indoor Day One

3/13/2026 | Track and Field

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. – Ole Miss track & field's weight throwers got the Rebels on the board, while senior Alicia Burnett took care of business in the 60-meter dash prelims to highlight a successful first day of action at the NCAA Indoor Championships on Friday.

Senior Tarik Robinson-O'Hagan added another First-Team All-America award to his overcrowded trophy case, scoring six crucial points for the Rebel men following a third-place finish in the weight throw. Robinson-O'Hagan briefly sat in second place in the fourth round, but would remain in third until the end – with his sixth-round effort of 23.50m/77-01.25 standing as his best of the day.

The third-place finish ties himself for the best ever by a Rebel in the men's weight throw, and he has concluded his collegiate career 4-for-4 in scoring opportunities in the weight after a third-place finish as a freshman in 2023 and back-to-back fifth-place showings in 2024 and 2025.

Heading into his final indoor competition as a collegian Saturday in the shot put, Robinson-O'Hagan currently owns 13 first-team All-America honors and 65 NCAA points across his superb career. He will enter the shot put ring Saturday as the two-time defending champion indoors, and will look to become only the fourth throw in Division I men's history to win three in a row indoors.

Senior Bryson Smith earned Second-Team All-America in 13th place at 21.64m/71-0, wrapping a strong final indoor season with his first indoor national meet.

In the women's weight, junior Akaoma Odeluga scored the first NCAA points of her career in fourth place after unleashing a two-foot PR for First-Team All-America amid an impressive final.

Odeluga's best of 23.66m/77-07.50 in the second round had her in second entering the final, but she was eventually bumped down to fourth after improvements by Illinois' Phethisang Makhethe (24.40m/80-00.75) and Texas' Giovanna Meeks (24.11m/79-01.25). Minnesota's Anthonett Nabwe won on a monster blast of 25.13m/82-05.50 – No. 3 in collegiate history, making her the first collegian to break 25 meters not coached by Ole Miss throws coach John Smith.

Fellow junior Skylar Soli earned Second-Team All-America in 11th place at 21.51m/70-7, falling just nine centimeters shy of making the final.

Fresh off an eye-opening performance at the conference meet two weeks ago, senior Alicia Burnett survived and advanced in the 60-meter semifinal on Friday, clocking a time qualifier of 7.16. Burnett fell one-thousandth of a second shy of earning an auto-bid to the final, but her performance stood as the top time qualifier regardless.

Ole Miss will look to close out the indoor season in strong fashion on Saturday, with competition at the NCAA Indoor Championships resuming at 1 p.m. CT with Tarik Robinson-O'Hagan in the men's shot put.
