BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Stefano D'Agostino stepped up big in Ole Miss's 4-3 win against No. 11 Vanderbilt this past weekend and was selected as the SEC Freshman of the Week on Wednesday afternoon.
It is D'Agostino's first individual collegiate honor and the first conference weekly award for the Rebels this season.
After Ole Miss found themselves in a 3-0 deficit, Stefano D'Agostino was one of the key factors in securing the win against No. 11 Vanderbilt. D'Agostino was matched up against No. 115 Pablo Martinez Gomez. The pair faced off in a heated match that would go into two tiebreaker sets, with D'Agostino taking both, 7-6 (7-2), 7-6 (8-6).
The singles win was the first-ranked win of his career; it was also his tenth overall singles win in his young career. With the win, he helped secure Ole Miss's highest-ranked match win since 2021.
The Rebels improved their record to 14-3, 2-3 SEC after their top-ranked win against Vanderbilt. Ole Miss continues conference play this week, competing at No. 22 Florida at 4 p.m. CT on Friday and at No. 14 South Carolina at 12 p.m. CT on Sunday.
